A visit from Kentucky....

The past week was crazy, busy, and fun.  My friend Rachel (yes, that is her name - and yes, it does make for difficulties occasionally, but only when someone else calls out our name. When it's just the two of us, it works quite well.:) flew in last Saturday and stayed for a week.  It was her first visit to Oklahoma, so I spent a lot of time showing her around our town & state. Sunday we went to church, had a big lunch with the family and then a long walk. Then we settled in with my sisters for an evening with Anne - Anne of Green Gables that is.  (We enjoyed our marathon movie night.)  Monday I had to work, but we found time for lunch together at Applebees & some shopping.  Tuesday we went to a local museum with my sisters.

I had fun playing with my camera and getting shots of the girls. Loved how they turned out.  The museum is great too - we had a wonderful afternoon.  Outside we put my camera on a ledge & set the timer for this shot - only problem was that I actually forgot to set the timer and when I hit the button it did this:

My sisters seem to be getting a kick out of my mistake!
So, we made adjustments, and all went well..........

On Wednesday we headed down to Guthrie for some touring & a Tea Room.  The girls in our family have been to Tea Rooms all over, but my friend had long wanted to go. (She confided this in me back in 2009 when we first met.) So, we went to one on the square. I'm not a mega tea drinker - although I do have an occasional cup - I mostly go for the food!

Then we walked down to the Trolley stop for a Trolley Tour.  Very fun and offered great photographic opportunities. I LOVE the one of the Trolley - the sun cooperated so well. :)

Just one of my beautiful sisters - I love this picture of her!
Thursday we drove to over to Aline to see the Sod House Museum.  This is the only sod house still standing that was built by a pioneer. Built in 1894, it was lived in for 9 years before then serving as a storage building for the family.  I don't know how they did it - I think I'd go crazy trying to live in one of these!

This picture is much too dark - but it's the only one we got!

Friday, it was back to the airport to see her off. We had a great week - thanks for making the time to come out Rachel - I had so much fun!

The two Rachels - once again!

  1. How fun! I love the pictures of all of you girls. What museum did you go to? It looks like a really good one. We are always looking for new field trip ideas.
