Portraits in Arkansas: Logan

Continuing with our photo shoot. When we started taking pictures I asked "Who wants to be first?" Logan stepped right up and said "ME!"  And he is such a natural at it.  Just sat down, posed himself and smiled.  And we got some cute ones too.  LOVE all his expressions.

Such beautiful eyes - just like his siblings

Portraits in Arkansas: Lucas

Now for a few more of the pictures from our shoot in Arkansas, this time featuring Lucas. This little guy makes me smile every time I think about him. He's such a little man. So grown up, and yet still so young.  His eyes shine bright blue like his sisters'. Enough from me. On to the pictures....

Check out the crystal clear blue eyes

My absolute favorite of Lucas

Portraits in Arkansas: Kylie

On Friday we left for Arkansas to visit family. My parents grew up in Arkansas, so we have a LOT of family there. My cousin Ericka had contacted me about doing pictures for her kids, so we went over to Hendrix College for a photo shoot after I arrived.

My cousin and her 3 adorable kids
The sun left us a little sooner than I would've like - I'm not used to making adjustments for so many trees! Here in Oklahoma, we have sunlight until it is below the horizon. Regardless, we got some great pictures.  Ericka, you're kids are so cute!  All three have such beautiful blue eyes.

I took quite a few pictures, so I'll start with Kylie. I loved the blue & yellow she chose. So cute... and perfect for her eyes. Kylie you are so pretty - inside and out. :)  (Amelia so enjoyed playing with you and Abby - she wishes you lived closer!)

I think this one is my favorite - love the expression

Laura took this one while I was shooting - love it.

Love. Those. Eyes.

Portraits in Manitou

As I said in my last post, being in Manitou again made me want to take pictures. When I was there before, it was for a Photography Workshop and we spent many an hour in Manitou shooting pictures.  Back to our trip last month: once I'd retrieved the camera from the car, I asked Laura to pose for me. Then she turned the camera on me! I'm not overly photogenic.... much prefer to be behind the camera instead of in front of it. However, I thought she did a great job - love the black & white one.

My FAVE of this shoot

Notice the wheels in the background? Look in my last post for a close-up.

Downtown Manitou Springs

When we were in Colorado we didn't do a whole lot of sight-seeing. Last time we were there, did quite a bit, so we tried to relax this time.  This was Aaron's first trip to Colorado, so we showed him around some - taking him to Garden of the our Gods one day, and to Simpich Theater another.  On Sunday after church, Caroline, Laura & I took him down to Manitou Springs where we enjoyed walking & shopping last time. He was impressed and we spent quite a little while there going in shops, (he found a coffee shop) & seeing the sights. He & Laura both tried out the springs, but I didn't care to taste them. <ughh>
Being in Manitou again made me want to take pictures, so I ran back to the van for the camera. Found plenty to shoot.... here are a few:

It was getting dark and we were about to leave when I snapped this one - love the sky!

A Volcano

After leaving Black Mesa and the panhandle of Oklahoma, we headed South-West into New Mexico. We had planned to stop for a picnic lunch that day, but the weather prevented. It was bitterly cold & windy. We had wanted to stop at the Capulin Volcano for lunch, but our hosts at the Bed & Breakfast told us it wouldn't be too safe to try & get to the top in all that wind. We knew the picnic was out anyway, so we passed it on by without stopping.
I did get some pictures of it however - from the car window.  I let the foreground blur by panning as we drove. You will notice it most in the last picture - I sort of played with it 'til I got what I wanted.

Later, when driving through Colorado on I-25, I took a few more from the car windows. Stunning views, but you know, a camera really can't quite capture everything I want sometimes.  These really don't do the view justice.

That's our van & trailer up ahead - really slowed us down sometimes!

Silhouettes from the Panhandle

Laura took these at sunset at our Bed & Breakfast in the Panhandle.  Loved them and decided to post.....
